Engineering Goods is the largest among industrial sectors in India. It is diverse with a number of segments and can bebroadly categorised into two segments: heavy engineering and light engineering. Engineering is relatively less ragmented at the top and more fragmented at the lower end in terms of technology and capital investment and is dominated by smaller players.The engineering industry in India manufactures a wide range of products, with heavy engineering goods accounting for bulk of the production.
